Privados de Libertad Documentary
About a facility that began as a juvenile detention facility in Costa Rica, originally housing adolescents of both sexes, between the ages 12 and 18. In the past four years the population has quadrupled. This is due in part to an increase in the number of judges imposing maximum sentences on both juveniles and adults, and a problem with overcrowding at the adult detention facility. This has resulted in a transfer of inmates from that facility to be housed in the juvenile facility. The center now houses 68 children and 122 adults, 10 of whom are women.
